Saturday, August 1st

We left Greenville, SC at 8AM and started our 4 hour drive to Myrtle Beach. We got into the MB area around 12:30. Since we couldn't check in we drove around the area of our rental house to see the sights. We ended up stopping for a little picnic lunch for Mads at the W.O. Bill Martin Park, which is simply funny because our GPS referred to it as the "WHOA BILL!" park. After lunch we then stopped at a public beach access point and gave Mads her first experience with the ocean. She was really digging it, wading in the shallow water had having fun, until... a big wave came and knocked her over!! Poor peanut was VERY upset by this, especially since she wasn't in her bathing suit and her clothes were now wet. I think that this instance could have been what has created her hatred of the water that we've been battling the rest of this week.

Feet in the water, not too bad! :)

We were able to check in to our rental at 3:30 and the first family to arrive after us were the Zabels, about an hour later. The Ames' rolled in around 7:30PM, and the Klybers around 2AM (after flight delays in Texas.) The house is pretty sweet. It's a four bedroom, four bath so there is plenty of room for each family.

The rental is "Second Row" and you can see the ocean from the front porch:

A bit of a better view from the upstairs front porch:
