The Poll

So, Andrew mentioned the other day that he thought I should take down the poll results over on the left side of the blog. I said that I wanted to keep them up for awhile so that everyone could see what the guesses on Madeline's gender were. The majority of voters chose girl, and what fine guessers you all are!! :) I'm curious to see who all thought we would be having a girl. Let us know if you chose girl by putting in a comment!! Thanks!

"2 Week" CheckUp

Hi Everyone!

Sorry we haven't posted since Madeline's arrival, but we've been busy holding our precious little girl and haven't been able to type! ;)

The last week and a half have gone by so fast! We went home from the hospital on Tuesday, Jan 15th and started to get used to just being the three of us. We had Madeline's first doctor appointment the next day, Wednesday, and they checked her bilirubin. Her bili had been a bit high when we left the hospital, so they wanted to make sure it didn't get any higher once we were home. The level from the appointment was the same as when we left, but the doctor wasn't concerned. He just told us to watch her and make sure she was eating and pooping enough, as that is how your body gets rid of the excess bilirubin. Her yellowness has gone completely away now and the doctor didn't want to check the level at today's appointment as it would have been unnecessary.

The Thursday after we got home we had to go back to the clinic again as I had a follow up appointment with the midwives to have my incision checked. They also watched Madeline eat to make sure that she was latching on and swallowing well. Of course our little champ had no problem with her feeding test!
The rest of the weekend was so cold so we all stayed in and snuggled. I had my first outing since I got home from the hospital on Saturday when my friends Barby and Alexis took me out for lunch. We were only gone for about an hour, but I missed my little Peanut. Her and Dad were fine at home and it was nice to get out of the house for a short time.

Dad had to go back to work on Monday. This left Madeline and I at home alone for the first time. It was a long day on Monday. Dad left at 7:30 AM and didn't get home until 7:30 PM. We survived though. Of course there were tears when Dad left in the morning, both from me and from Dad. Dad said that it was a good thing he had a busy schedule that day otherwise he would have been sad all day long thinking about us and missing us.

So, Madeline had her two week check up today. I would like to remind you that she is NOT yet two weeks old. (I refuse to let her grow up too fast!) The little porker was 7 pounds 3 ounces!! This is in the 25th percentile. She's almost put on a whole pound since she was born. Guess she's eating well!! She was also 22 inches long, which is in the 97th percentile. Good news for Grandpa Jeff, he's hoping for a basketball player. Other than that the appointment was pretty uneventful. Dr. Carlson listened to Madeline's heart and lungs and said that everything was fine. He wasn't worried about the stuffy nose that she's had over the last few days, as it's very common in newborns since their little noses are so tiny.

That's about all for now. We'll be in touch soon!

Love,
Nicole, Andrew & Madeline

Madeline Lucille

Sorry about the delay between posts... I was intending on posting after Friday's 38 week appointment but someone else had other plans.
Our little Peanut, Madeline Lucille Josephs, was born on Saturday, January 12th at 12:51 AM. She came via C Section weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Here are a couple pictures for now. I will post more details about Little Maddie's debut when I get a chance!
