On our way home from our visit to Monroe the weekend of the 15-16th Andrew suggested that Maddie and I take a vacation to Monroe. He thought it would be a good idea to spend time with the family there as I will soon be back to work and won't have the opportunity to spend a week there anytime in the near future. We all got back to Oshkosh on the 16th, and Maddie and I did things around the house on the 17th and 18th in order to be ready for our trip. We cleaned the house, did laundry and ran errands. On Tuesday, the 18th we had lunch with Dad in Ripon since we would be leaving the next day. We left Wednesday around 11:30 and were in Monroe around 3ish. Lily was very excited to take a vacation at Gramma Jackie's! Here she is, excited on the car ride down:
We stayed in Monroe from Wednesday the 19th through Wednesday the 26th. We had a great time visiting all the Grandmas, Grandpas, Great Grandmas, and Aunt Kimmys! It was nice enough that we were able to take a couple of walks too!
Our walk with Aunt Kimmy on the Thursday the 20th:
On Friday, the 21st we went to Grandma Lucy's house to dye Easter Eggs with Aunt Kimmy and Justin. This was the best picture I was able to get of Maddie with the eggs, unfortunately her hands are in her face!
Andrew came down to Monroe after work on Friday, then on Saturday Andrew and I went to Madison to eat lunch at Flat Top Grill. This was the first time that we had gone out without Maddie. Mads stayed home with Gramma Jackie while we were gone. Then when we got back to Monroe Maddie was able to meet her cousins Ryan and Lisa for the first time!
Saturday night I was also able to put Maddie's hair into a "pony!" Andrew thought I was mean... I think it's cute, we just need a smaller hair doodle:
Sunday was of course Easter. We had a busy day with church in the morning, lunch at Gramma Jackie's with Grandma Lucy and the family, and then to Grandma Selma's for candy hunting and dinner the Wunschel side of the family. Here is a picture of Maddie in her Easter dress and her first Easter basket!
Mads also got to meet her cousins MaKenzie and Abby at Grandma Selma's:
Monday and Tuesday were mostly for relaxing. We went out to eat at the Suisse Haus on Monday and bummed around on Tuesday. Maddie chose Tuesday to catch up on some sleep:
Wednesday morning we had breakfast with Gramma Jackie, Grandma Lucy and Aunt Kimmy then went to Grandma Selma's for a couple hours to chat. Then we packed up the car and were back in Oshkosh around 6PM. We had a wonderful vacation and were so happy to see everyone!
So, since we've been back in Oshkosh we've still been busy. Thursday we went to have lunch with Daddy and Friday we babysat Claire and Nick while Jill was in Madison for continuing education. Maddie had a very fun day with her cousins. She couldn't keep her eyes off of them!
Saturday we had a birthday party to go to for one of Andrew's coworkers. Maddie got to wear her first pair of blue jeans to the party. She also wore a sweater that another coworker had knit for her. She was awake the whole time we were at the party, over four hours! Everyone kept commenting how adorable she is, and of course how great her hair is. Now you tell me, how cute is this kid in jeans?!
Yesterday we went to Green Bay to spend the day with Grandma Mary. Maddie met some of the neighbors and cheesed them up with smiles all over the place. I really like that she's so friendly when she meets people. Maddie was pretty zonked out when we got home, can't blame her after the busy weeks we've had, and Andrew and I took advantage of the time and tidied up the office area. How exciting are we?
This morning Maddie and I have been busy too. We had to retire all of her Newborn size sleepers. I had put a sleeper on her on Friday and noticed that the arms were too short and she didn't have enough room in the legs to stretch them all the way out. Her newborn pants are fine, they're actually still too big on her tiny butt, and as long as the newborn shirts are short sleeve they still fit too. She's so skinny, but getting too tall! The 0-3 month size clothes still fit, though. They're long enough to accommodate her arms and legs. Here's a picture of Maddie and her newly retired clothes:
Well, that's the update on what we've been doing the last two weeks. Hope you've all been well! Here's two more pictures that just crack me up. They're from the other morning when Maddie was busy hamming it up for me!
