Wednesday, June 17th was our Georgia day! We took off with a rough plan to cross the state line, but that's about it!
We made it into Georgia in about 20 minutes - and then needed to decide our plan. The closest large city is Savannah, so that's where we chose to go.
Georgia is on our minds! (and Nathan is the governor!)
We were seeing billboards all along the interstate to stop at Peach World... it was almost advertised as much as Wall Drug is advertised in South Dakota! :) We felt compelled to stop and I have to say, it was a good choice! They had the yummiest peach slushies! We also stocked up on peach jelly and peach salsa, as well as real peaches!

We found a fun stop in Savannah - the Great Dane! (It's located at corporate offices of Great Dane trailers)
After finding our way into Savannah it was time for lunch, We chose The Pirates House on a whim, and because it had a parking lot! It turned out to be super fun!

The kids are in front of a window that is in an adjoining building, called the Herb House. The Herb House is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. It was built in 1734.
After filling our bellies we headed to Forsyth Park. Absolutely gorgeous to walk around in!
Spanish Moss just adds so much to the beauty of the area!

As we were walking through the park we came upon "Fragrant Gardens" The gate was open, so we walked in and took a look at the flowers planted there.
We came upon some beautiful pink roses.

After walking out of the Gardens we passed a lady in a Savannah Parks shirt. She said hello and kept on her way. As we turned on our path I noticed out of the corner of my eye that she was locking the Garden gate up. I guess the park isn't supposed to be open to the public! The fact that the beautiful pink roses were blooming makes me think that maybe Amelia kept that gate open for us! :)

There were two playground options. I didn't take a picture of option A, but it was a lovely antique model with a metal slide - and the entire playground was in direct sunlight.
Option B, was a nice plastic playground, in the shade of many trees.
Considering that the weather was THIS:
Heat index of 107 - 113 degrees! The kids chose the shaded park!
We left Savannah and headed towards home. We couldn't go all the way back into Florida before stopping to snack on our peaches! We stopped at Fort George State Historic Site.
The kids found these "handcuffs" to be funny!

On the way back to Amelia Island we were welcomed kindly into Florida!
That night I went swimming alone with Nathan. Daddy and Mads were pretty tired so they stayed back to lounge. Nate jumped in the waves for about 45 minutes and then he was wiped out too! :)
