On Friday, April 27th we started our morning by traveling to one of the Dreams sister resorts. It is their 10th anniversary so the company was showing off the hotel. (I'm sure hoping you'd come back soon!) We were able to have breakfast at the Dreams Tulum resort and then got a tour. Afterwards we got in a taxi and took a ten minute ride to the Mayan Ruins of Tulum.
Tulum is the only Mayan city that was built on the ocean. All the other cities are inland. Chichen Itza is the well-known Mayan city as it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It's a three hour ride to the ruins and we decided not to make the trip this time, but probably sometime in the future.
I was pretty amazed by the ruins in Tulum, I can't even imagine how big Chichen Itza must be!

As we found out on one of our excursions later in the trip, the Mayans would drink the water from the underground rivers and lakes. The water in these rivers and lakes is extremely high in calcium. Apparently an excess of calcium makes your bones thick and strong, but shortens your stature. The Mayans were short, but strong people. You can definitely see by this doorway that they were short.
There were lots of lovely plants and vegetation in Tulum. These pictures are for you, Grandma Selma! :)
When we got back to the hotel it was around 4PMish. We decided to hit up the swim-up bar. How cool is a swim up bar?
Then we moved to the sunny side of the resort and spent some time in the Jacuzzi!
Dinner on Thursday night was at the Sushi restaurant, Gohan. I had to talk Andrew into it since he says he doesn't like Sushi. I told him if he didn't like it we could just order him room service later.
I ordered a California roll and a Philadelphia Roll, Andrew ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll. 
Andrew takes a timid bite... and he ended up LOVING it! He was even asking me later in the week if we could go back for more! :)
That night when we returned to our room we were surprised to find champagne! A nice way to end the day!
