Mads and Nate love football. Last season they would both count down the days until a Packer game. Mads knew the Packers schedule and their record like the back of her hand. Nate was a bit more "Rainman" with his crazy amount of knowledge about quarterbacks - name a team and he could tell you their QB!
The kids have been asking for a chance to go to a Packer game. I, for one, think that Packer Family Night would be a crazy night full of anxiety and I wouldn't be able to enjoy it with the kids and since tickets can be a quite a bit expensive during regular season we had told the kids it might be quite awhile before they could go. Daddy even told Nate that they couldn't go until they were 18!!
A few weeks ago we came upon the chance to purchase preseason tickets from a former classmate of Andrew's. The tickets were for the Packers-Raiders game on Thursday, August 18th. We were initially going to go with our Raider fan friend, Luke and Dianne, but after we purchased the tickets they were unable to go. Andrew and I discussed it and decided it was the perfect time to surprise the kids with their first Packer game!!
We planned out how we would surprise the kids. We told them we would make a trip to visit Grandma Mamie in Green Bay. The kids knew there was a game so we told them that if they wanted, we could walk down to Lambeau a couple hours before the game started so they could see just how busy it was on game day. Daddy made sure to remind the kids a few times that Lambeau holds more than seven Monroes in the stands and that's why the kids had to be bigger to go to a game.
We left Grandma's house and took a picture "Just because we all had our Packer gear on..." :)
On the walk to Lambeau... cuties!!
