Dashel Josephs

The Josephs Family has a new member!!

Andrew brought up the idea of adopting another dog a few months ago.  We were thinking along the lines of a 5-6 year old smallish dog, maybe a terrier.  We stopped by the Dane County Humane Society and they didn't have any dogs that would be good with kids under 8.  We then went to the Green County Humane Society on July 19th.  Andrew was pretty excited about "Jeremy" the 10 month old hound mix.  He came right up to the kennel door and didn't bark.  He just gave Andrew "the eyes."  We were able to do a meet and greet that day, as well as take "Jeremy" for a walk.  This stinker pot of a dog, which met none of our ideas, totally won us over!!

The kids on the 19th during our walk:

On Thursday the 24th we took Lily to meet "Jeremy."  Lily, of course, had to bark and make sure it was known that she's been around for 10 years and is top dog.  In true Lily fashion, she calmed down quickly.  They walked on leash together and then they had off leash time.  The director at the Humane Society decided that Lily and "Jeremy" passed inspection together and he was ready to finally have his forever home!  By the time we were heading out the door Lily had changed her loyalties and when the staff wanted to pet "Jeremy" good bye Lily started barking at them and protecting her new brother.

The first order of business was to give"Jeremy" his family name.  He is now Dashel "Dash" Josephs!  Nathan chose the name for two reasons.  1st:  Dash is the name of the boy in his favorite movie, The Incredibles.  2nd:  Dash is a hound dog and you better believe he is FAST!

Dash is a very busy boy.  The first day we had him home he didn't sit down for the first 6 hours.  He finally found a cozy spot on Nate's blanket to rest his eyes:
Dash and Lily are buddies.  Here they are looking to save us from any trouble coming our way!
Dash's favorite spot in the duplex.  He could keep an eye on what was happening outside!
Aunt Kimmy and Michael came over to meet Dash.  They had fun playing until the arm ripped off the monkey.  Oops!
Look at this stinker!  Found himself a cozy spot on our bed!
Tanning in the sun from the skylight.
All curled up in a "kitty ball" and ready for bed!

Dash has been with us just a bit over a week now and he's really starting to settle in.  He's a good boy, he knows sit and down.  He also walks well on the leash.  The kids have fun with him (as long as he's not trying to sneak their stuffed animals!)  I can see Dash and the kids having a great time growing up together!
