Thursday, June 12th we headed up to Wisconsin Dells to meet our sweet friend, Kirsten, her three girls, and her sister for a day of fun!
We started by meeting at the Wisconsin Deer Park. For many, many years whenever we drove by the park I always wondered who would go there - what a weird idea to hang out with deer. Then, after we visited the park in 2012, I realized how super awesome the place is! When Kirsten and I decided to meet in the Dells I KNEW we had to take the kids to the Deer Park!
Here are three of the five littles. Mads in the tall deer, Nate in the lower deer, and Gracie in the sunflower.

Nate was a bit nervous around the deer. He wasn't handing out the crackers as fast as the deer would have liked so they kept herding around him. I needed to keep reminding him to keep moving and they wouldn't be so close to him! :)
The deer are quite gorgeous creatures!
About half of the park is larger deer, and half is the smaller & younger deer. The smaller ones were just the right size for the kids! This one was Maddie's favorite. She liked the coloring and the spots of the deer's hair. (and it is totally hair, not fur... I checked!)

The next two pictures tell such a great story. I wanted Nate to get in the picture with Mads and all the deer. He came over, a bit nervous as you can see here, but why?

There were other animals throughout the park as well. There was a large pen of goats that we stopped to see on our way out. Nathan was very concerned that this goat was NOT following the rules! :)
After stopping for lunch at Buffalo Phil's - YAY for a train table! :) We then headed to Baraboo and went to the Circus World Museum. The Circus World Museum was one of the Wunschel kids' annual "Back-To- School" trips with Grandpa Pete and Grandma Selma and I haven't been there since! The only thing I remembered about it that it was down a hill and by a river. So it was a new experience for all of us!
As we entered the first museum we found a scary looking alligator! So, the kids decided to sit on it! :)

Mads was able to practice her beautiful ballerina tightrope walker skills from her Kindergarten Circus on the highwire!
Then Nate gave it a try!

There were two "old time" merry go rounds on the property. The kids rode them and had a blast. Think of all the safety hazards! They could have taken a leg off!! (Just kidding!)
There was also a playground area that we let the kiddos play around on for awhile.
We had some unicycle riders!
Then we headed up to the carousel! You can never have too much fun on a carousel!

On our walk over to the Hippodrome for the "Clowning Around with Roger" show we went past the elephants in their grazing field.
There was this pretty neat cut out with stairs behind so the kids could go to the top and look they were taking an elephant ride:

Then the girls got in on the action!
Nathan LOVED Roger. He laughed so hard at all of Roger's antics. I love to hear Nate laugh like that!
When the show was done Roger was available for photographs. Nate ran right up and was the first in line!
Roger gave the kids some high fives!
I just have to share this story because it's too cute - While Nate thought Roger was hilarious, Gracie didn't quite think so. When Kirsten asked if Gracie wanted her picture with Roger she told her mom that she didn't because "Roger wasn't that funny!" LOVE the honesty! :)
There was a bit of time between the end of the Roger show and the beginning of the Big Top Circus and it was just enough time to take a REAL LIFE ELEPHANT RIDE. (I'm not going to lie here, I was a bit jealous that I didn't get a ride too...)

Then it was time for the BIG TOP SHOW!!
There were all of the classic acts - tumblers and stunt men:

and the elephants!! (there were also trained ponies, acrobats, jugglers and Roger the clown)

It was such a fun day! The sun was shining, there was a light breeze and the temperature was wonderful. The kids all had fantastic attitudes and not a problem thoughout the entire day!! We couldn't have asked for anything more!
