Pumpkins & Our Trip to The Little Farmer

Saturday, October 8th was an absolutely gorgeous day!  We've been so blessed to have such wonderful weather at the beginning of October.  It's been 8 days so far that the temperatures have been above 70 here in Oshkosh.  I think 3 or 4 of those days were even above 80.  How fantastic!

On Saturday morning we were having a leisurely morning when I remembered at about 7:15 that the Festival Foods pumpkin sale was that day at 8:00.  Andrew had to be in Appleton to work by 9, so we quick got ready and headed out the door.  We were to Festival by 8:05, picked out our pumpkins and Mads even got to play a few games.  It was nice that they had the games going early this year, last year the games didn't start until 10 and you always have to be there as close to 8 as you can to get the best pick of the pumpkins!

Mads had lots of fun playing the games.  There was a Plinko board:

 and a Bozo bucket toss.  She did pretty great, she got balls into the first three buckets!!

 There was also a bean bag toss through the eyes, nose & mouth of a pumpkin.  Mads won a couple prizes and a couple stickers.

Andrew got home at a decent time that afternoon so we decided to head down to The Little Farmer in Fond du Lac.  Our plan was (and still is) to go to The Little Farmer on Monday the 17th, but with such wonderful weather we didn't want to pass up an afternoon outside.  You can't tell in these pictures but The Farmer was PACKED with people.  There was a line for the caramel apples and I think it was at least a 45 minute wait.  There was also a wait to get into the shopping barn!!  Crazy!  Since we had already set aside the 17th, we're going to go back and since it's a Monday we're hoping it's less crazy and that we'll be able to get a couple of those yummy caramel apples!  :)

 We did take a few minutes to play on the playground.  Mads climbed up the giant hay bale stack.  You can't tell from this picture since I had zoomed in, but she's on the 4th giant hay bale up from the ground at this point!

 Nate got in the action, too.  He couldn't climb them by himself, so he got some help from mom.

 LOVE this picture!  Nathan got some hay on his hand and wanted me to wipe it off.  I told him it was really no biggie!  :)

After the playground we stopped by the animals and fed the sheep and goats. 

 Mads was having fun while Nathan wasn't so sure and had to have some help from Dad!

 Since we had gotten our pumpkins in the morning we didn't need any from the patch.  I did try to take some pictures of the kids, but was losing their cooperation.  I did get a couple cute pictures of them trying to lift the pumpkins up.

 Mads said that the pumpkins were too heavy.  Then we reminded her that she ate all of her breakfast that morning and she was super strong because of it.  Then all of a sudden she could lift the pumpkin!  (Nathan is pretty impressed!)

Perfect weather for a perfect day!!  I wish I could keep these days in my pocket and pull one out in the middle of February!  :)
