Outside & Easter Fun!

Last week Wednesday was very UN-like today's snow and temperatures in the 30's. Last Wednesday got up into the lower 80's in Oshkosh, breaking some records I believe. We took advantage of the day, starting with a plan to walk through South Park to see the ducks. Once we got to South Park we saw that the playground was wide open, no other kids around. Mads has only been to South Park once before because there are usually teenagers playing basketball about 50 yards away with some choice language flying around as well as their friends driving their cars through the park at about 50 miles per hour. I just don't feel that it's a safe park, so even though it's the closest park to our house we normally go to the other park a few more blocks away. Since nobody else was around we stopped to play. Mads had a blast playing at the new park. She loved exploring it and trying out some new equipment! After about 45 minutes of playing she told me she wanted to go see the ducks so we jumped back in the wagon and continued our walk! She learned what geese and seagulls were on that trip!

Heading to the park! (Notice the cell phone... she kept getting calls and telling everyone she'd have to "call right back!")

Once we got home from our walk we played in our yard until it was lunch time. Mads also took a break and started her tan for the year! ;)

Such a big girl, she can get all the way up by herself!

On Friday night we dyed Easter eggs. This was Maddie's first time dying eggs and she thought it was pretty neat. She especially liked coloring on the eggs with the crayon before dipping it in the dye.

Saturday morning Mads found that the Easter Bunny had come early to her house. He must've known that she was going to be in Monroe on Sunday!! The Bunny hid 3 Elmo eggs and a basket for her to find.

Looking for her basket under the couch, you can see where it really is! ;)

So excited that the Bunny brought "lips!"

Saturday was also the end of Maddie's swimming session. She did a great job this year and really added on to the skills she learned last year. She also got to go down the big waterslide with the teacher at the end of class. (Mom didn't feel coordinated enough to go down the slide with Mads and not dunk her at the end, so the teacher volunteered to take Mads)

Andrew had to work on Saturday so after we got home from swimming lessons and Mads took her nap we put some finishing touches on the eggs we dyed the night before. Mads had fun sticking Elmo stickers on all the eggs.

We headed for Monroe once Andrew was home from work on Saturday afternoon. We got there around 5:30 or so.

Sunday morning before all the Easter festivities Andrew, Mads and I were able to go down to the Monroe Fire Station to look at the fire trucks with Jake. The last couple weeks Mads has been fascinated with ambulances. When she hears any sirens she tells you "I hear ambalence!" Since Jake doesn't know anyone on the EMS the fire trucks had to do. Mads had a blast checking out all of the trucks and she even met Sparky the firedog!

Trying on Jake's helmet! It was HEAVY!

Sparky!!

When we got back from the fire station Mads found that the Easter Bunny had stopped by. The bunny left even more eggs and another basket!!

Again, checking under the couch for her basket. So close!!

After lunch at Gramma Jackie's house with Aunt Kim, Jake, and Honey we headed over to my cousin, Melissa's, house to see the Wunschel side of the family. We made it just in time for another basket hunt for the kidlets!! Mads, Kenzie and Abby each had a basket to find from GG. Mads had a bit of help from Abby and found hers hiding behind a big rock!

Cousins MaKenzie, Abby and Mads

After the kidlets found their baskets we had an Easter egg hunt followed by the annual candy hunt! Mads had better luck finding the bigger eggs rather than the little candies, but she had fun during both hunts!

Mads found the Golden Egg! (Thanks to some directions from Cousin Melissa!)

We had a fantastic Easter weekend and hope that you did too!

Thanks for stopping by!

It looks like Mads likes hunting things as much as Alex. Super cute Elmo eggs.
