A proud Momma! Mads first Swim Meet Recap!

On Saturday, December 13th Miss Madeline had her very first swim meet!!  She joined the Green County YMCA Gators in September and has been practicing very hard.  She was very nervous going into the Toyland Meet.  She started telling me on Thursday night that she didn't want to go to bed because each morning when she woke up it would be closer to the meet.  Poor peanut!  We kept telling her to just do her best, no biggies.  We were all there to sit around for 3 hours to watch her swim for 3 stinkin' minutes!  (She thought that was pretty funny!)

We got up early on Saturday and were to the Y by 6:30AM because I was working the admission table.  Mads started her warm ups at 7:00.  After warm ups I sat with her for a bit while we watched the first couple heats swim.  Once Mads saw how things happened she was feeling more comfortable, almost excited!  :)

Her first event was the 25 meter Freestyle.  We got her over to the staging area where she gave me a big thumbs up and you can see that she was finally excited!

Up on the blocks waiting for the whistles:
Take Your Mark, Get Set...
And GO!

Her very first swim meet finish!  :)
Mads finished in 7th place in the 25 meter Free:

We had quite a bit of time until her next event.  Nater had some fun with the swim cap!

Mads was definitely pumped to swim the 25 meter backstroke.  She much prefers the backstroke over all the rest!  :)

Swimmers take your mark:
Get set:
Go!

Coming in for the finish!!
Mads won a THIRD PLACE RIBBON in her 25 meter backstroke!!

There was a short break and then it was on to relays.  Mads got pretty nervous about the relay.  This was the 100 meter Freestyle.  She swam the third 25 meters of it, including a dive off the blocks.

Here she is on the blocks as her teammate approaches:
Ready for her teammate to touch and she TAKES OFF!
She's in the water!
Go Mads!

Her relay team won a THIRD PLACE RIBBON!

Mads got her ribbons at her next practice.  She kept reminding us to check the swim team mailbox!  :)(7th Place Free, 3rd Place Back, 3rd Place Relay)  She also got two ribbons for her personal best times in the Free and the Back.

We are SOOOOOO proud of our little fishy!  Mads has renewed excitement in swim team and Nate is ready to sign up for next year.

Here is a video of all three of her swims:

WAY TO GO MADS!
