Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Saturday was the annual Wings on Strings Kite Festival at the EAA grounds.  We had such a blast last year that I really wanted to take both kiddos this year.  Andrew, unfortunately, had to work so Gramma J & Thom came up to go with Mads, Nathan and I.  The weather was a little bit iffy, not very windy and it did start raining around 12:30 or so.  We were able to spend about an hour at the festival before we left because of the rain.  The wind was definitely lacking but we were able to get the kite up a few times, just enough to satisfy Mads! :)

Mads holds on tight to the string of her kite!  :)
 Our kite is pretty!
Gramma J and Nathan watch Maddie's kite skills!

Mads found a lot of joy in running with the kite:
Nathan watches the kite hit the ground!  Silly lack of wind!
They weren't able to get the giant kites up this year, but they did have the stunt kites.  Pretty neat!

Here is a short video of Mads running with her kite before it takes a digger:

In other news... my house is painted!!  Andrew's Aunt Eileen and Uncle Jim came up to visit Wednesday through Sunday and they like to do projects while they visit  They helped Jill and Eric put in on fire pit on Saturday, but on Friday they came to Oshkosh and helped Andrew work on our house while I was at work.  Jill and the kids, as well as Mary came down too.  They painted the Big Red Wall a beautiful slate blue, painted the front porch the same blue, took down all the shutters to spray paint them and then put them back up.  They also gave the overhang above the back door a fresh coat of white.  My house looks phenomenal!!

The house when we purchased it in 2009:

The house today!  Changes made:  Bushes along the lot line are gone, the big pine tree near the porch is gone, the red fence and lattice along the porch is gone.  We now have a flower garden along the porch, the Big Red Wall is now a lovely slate blue as are the shutters and front porch!  Oh, and a new roof was put on in 2009!

Back porch 2009, ew!  BRW!  Too much fence!  What is going on!?!
The new, more accessible porch with a much more pleasing color!
 Side of the house:
 Look at that flower garden!
I LOVE it!!  I appreciate the hard work that everyone put in to make my house look so fantastic!!

Thanks for stopping by!
